My grandchildren were enchanted by the author's seamless integration of his large-format pictures. This mesmorizing, fully-photographed book offers readers of all ages a wholesome, positively-directed, and family-oriented book for them to read/view for their pleasure and entertainment. I'd have used it as a vehicle to engage my students, with stimulating discussions (about expressing feelings, coping with change, beauty/ecology/geography of natural world, and reflections on the incredible companionship with/love of pets).
I wish I had this wonderful "A Tree for Max" book when I was teaching 1st through 5th-graders (in Boston inner city and suburban public schools and an elite private school).
